About the Puppies
As they grow, our puppies enjoy fresh air & exercise on our 40-acre farm & begin their potty training on grass. They also spend time with us, our cats, & other dogs. By the time you take them home, they will have been examined by a licensed veterinarian who administers their first vaccinations & dewormer. We provide a health guarantee for any genetic defects that are discovered in your puppy’s first year of life. Your puppy will go home with a stuffed animal that has the familiar scent of the mother dog; an information sheet with your puppy’s needs & tips; and a 14 lb bag of puppy food that your puppy has been raised on. The puppies are being sold without breeding rights.
The Parents!
Health Clearances
OFA Tested
The sire has OFA health clearances on his hips, elbows, & heart. OFA doesn’t provide clearances until the Dam is 2 years old, so Scout hasn’t been able to be tested yet. But her parents both have OFA clearances on their hips, elbows, hearts, and eyes, so we anticipate Scout’s OFA results being good as well.
OFA Hips
The Sire’s hips are rated Good & both of the parents of the Dam have hips that are rated Good.
DNA Tested
Both the Dam and the Sire are DNA tested through Embark for numerous genetic conditions. The Sire is also AKC DNA profile tested.
Why Do OFA Clearances Matter To Me?
“OFA” stands for “Orthopedic Foundation for Animals”. Their mission is “to promote the health and welfare of companion animals through a reduction in the incidence of genetic disease.”
Golden Retrievers can be prone to getting hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia. The genetics of the parent dogs are the most common factor in the development of these diseases. Therefore it is important to get a puppy that has good genetics to give them the best chance at a healthy life. Having OFA clearances is one way to help ensure that good genes are being passed on to the next generation of puppies, which matters to you because that puppy just might be your next pet!
Click the above links to see our OFA clearances!
Note: You can look up any dog in the OFA database to see if it has clearances by searching its AKC number or full registered name on OFA.org. This is an excellent thing to do if you are looking at different breeders to ensure the dog you are getting has the health clearances that are advertised. Please be aware that OFA gives people who are getting OFA testing done on their dogs the option of not posting abnormal test results. So if you look up a dog on OFA and don’t find any results, it means either the dog is not tested OR the dog is tested but the results were poor (hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, etc.). Because of this it is important to know what the test results were, not just that the dog was tested. We hope everyone finds a happy, healthy companion that is just the right fit for them!
